RCMP WEST arrests Kelly McDonald who was wanted for violent assault

He was arrested on the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation with help from Battlefords RCMP.

Kelly McDonald was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm during an offence, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

NORTH BATTLEFORD – The Sask. RCMP Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) has arrested Kelly McDonald on the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation on Nov. 23.  Battlefords RCMP helped with the arrest.

McDonald, 37, appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Nov. 23. He was wanted by police since June. Battlefords RCMP had received a report of an assault at a home on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear's Head, Lean Man First Nation. McDonald is accused of being armed with a firearm and assaulting a woman. She was able to leave the home and call for help. She reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.

Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team searched the residence for McDonald but he wasn’t located. As a result of further investigation, McDonald was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm during an offence, careless use of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest. RCMP WEST targets high-profile offenders with outstanding warrants. The WEST teams are based in Saskatoon, Meadow Lake, and Prince Albert.
