Sask. residents charged with theft of large amount of copper wire

Kitscoty, Alta., RCMP responded to the call about a suspicious vehicle at the business compound in Paradise Valley.

KITSCOTY, Alta. – Alberta RCMP have arrested four Saskatchewan residents after responding to a break and enter to a business compound south of Highway 619 in Paradise Valley.

Allea Geraldine Lameman, 27, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, Mitchell Wright, 31, of Lloydminster, as well as Tessa Lynn Rose Lameman, 29, and Daniel Ivan Meesto, 45, both of Marshall, have been charged with theft over $5,000, break and enter, and mischief over $5,000.

Kitscoty, Alta., RCMP had responded to a call about the break and enter on Nov. 5. They say that an employee of the business observed a suspicious vehicle and several people in the compound.

When RCMP arrived, they saw a SUV with a large amount of copper wire in the rear hatch. Police ran the license plate and discovered the SUV was stolen.

CCTV was viewed and revealed a fourth suspect in the break-in. A warrant was issued for the person’s arrest and Lloydminster RCMP made the arrest.

“This investigation was helped greatly by the contributions of the people who reported the incident,” said Cst. McMahon of the Kitscoty RCMP. “There was no delay in calling police and as a result we were able to successfully locate the suspects without significant difficulty.”

Meesto was taken before a justice of peace and remanded in custody with his next court date of Dec. 19, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster. Tessa Lameman, Mitchell Wright and Allea Lameman were released with their next court date being Dec. 19, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.

This story has been updated to indicate Paradise Valley is in Alberta, not Saskatchewan.
