Saskatoon police seize sawed-off rifle: Teen faces firearms offences

SASKATOON – A teen is facing a number of charges after being reported with a gun. Police seized a sawed-off rifle.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., Sept. 24, patrol officers responded to the area of 31st Street West and Avenue C North for reports of a teen carrying a gun. When police arrived on scene, the suspect fled from police, leading members of the Patrol and Canine Units on a foot chase. 

The suspect began complying with officer commands in the 800 block Idylwyld Drive North where he was taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, the suspect was believed to have discarded a rifle in a garbage can in a back yard, which was located and seized.

The 15-year-old is facing four firearms-related offences.
