NORTH BATTLEFORD – A 51-year-old man arrested following an incident on Poundmaker Cree Nation made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Tuesday.

Terrance Favel was remanded in custody and is back in court June 29 for a show cause hearing.

Favel was arrested on Little Pine First Nation after a police search. He is charged with possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, two counts of mischief under $5,000, mischief over $5,000, uttering threats, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, weapons possession contrary to a court order, discharging a firearm while being reckless, and assault of a police officer.

The charges are a result of an incident on Poundmaker Cree Nation on June 25. Cut Knife RCMP say that their investigation determined a man approached a residence and discharged a firearm, striking a parked vehicle. He then allegedly threatened an occupant of the home. No injuries were reported to police.

Cut Knife RCMP started searching Favel, with help from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team. Cut Knife RCMP located the suspect at a home on Little Pine First Nation at approximately 3:45 p.m. He assaulted a police officer during his arrest. The officer was not seriously injured.
