Traffic stop leads to search warrant of two Meadow Lake homes

After finding cocaine in a vehicle during a traffic stop, police obtained search warrants for two Meadow Lake homes.

Police conducted a traffic stop on 1 Avenue W. in Meadow Lake at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15.

MEADOW LAKE – Police arrested two people and raided two homes after Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan RCMP (CTSS) conducted a traffic stop on 1 Avenue W. in Meadow Lake at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 15.

An officer had observed unstamped tobacco in the vehicle and the adult male driver and adult female passenger were arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized approximately 13 grams of cocaine, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia. Meadow Lake RCMP CTSS then obtained search warrants for two homes in Meadow Lake.  Meadow Lake RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team assisted. Officers located and seized approximately 14 grams of cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia.

Fifty-three-year-old Kevin Ault from Meadow Lake is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and sale, possession, storage or transportation of tobacco that is not marked. Thirty-four-year-old Cassandra Lambert from Flying Dust First Nation is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Ault appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Oct. 23. Lambert is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20.
