Weapons, drugs seized after RPS search car

Police found a man passed out in the front seat of the car, makes court appearance.

REGINA – Checking on a person passed out in their car revealed much more than someone “sleeping it off.” A member of the Canine Unit noticed the man passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on the 900 block of Rae Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 13.

Police removed and arrested the 55 year-old man without incident, and searched the vehicle he was in.

“Upon searching the vehicle, incident to the male’s arrest, police located and seized a loaded sawed off shotgun, ammunition, a quantity of Fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, a fake driver’s licence, and identity documents that did not belong to the male arrested,” said RPS.

Dennis Brent Marcia of Regina has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, careless storage of a firearm, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm while known possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of prohibited firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, prohibited possession contrary to an order, breach of probation, identity fraud, possession of an identity document, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Marcia made his first court appearance on these charges Jan. 16, and will return on Jan. 20.
