Woman charged with murder in Jeremy Ernest's death headed to trial

MEADOW LAKE – A 23-year-old Battleford resident will stand trial in Battleford Court of King’s Bench in connection with 36-year-old Jeremy Ernest’s death.

Tasha Opikokew is charged with accessory to murder. A trial date will be set.

Twenty-eight-year-old Hannah Durocher of Eagles Lake, 34-year-old Tyson Lasas of Waterhen Lake First Nation, and 23-year-old Trevor Alexander of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, are charged with second-degree murder. The three are back in Meadow Lake Provincial Court May 23. 

Meadow Lake RCMP had responded to a call of a man in medical distress at Waterhen Lake First Nation on Nov. 12, 2022. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
