The Saskatchewan Department of Natural Resources said, with most farmers having dugouts, potholes or lakes on their land, fish farming was growing in popularity.

Jim Logan was appointed secretary-manager of the Unity Low Rental Housing Authority, after the resignation of Tony Mann who had served in the position since the authority was established.

Leading the Highway 14 Midget scoring stats were Don Gerein, Wilkie; Eric Schell, Wilkie; Dale Robertson, Unity; and Kevin Cey, Wilkie.

Used cars available at Victory Motors in Wilkie included a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 for $1,995 and a 1966 Dodge Sedan for only $400.

The Prairie Springs Mineral Spa committee was under pressure from the Saskatchewan Securities Commission to complete their final deal, or the $2.3 million already raised would have to be returned to the investors.

Despite -30 degree temperatures, the Unity North Stars and Roadrunners recreation hockey teams still played their own version of the Heritage Classic, Jan. 2, raising $240 for the outdoor rink in Unity.

The Wilkie CWL were able to donate over $800 to the new Breast Health Centre at City Hospital in Saskatoon, after holding a “play for a cure” bingo.
