Senga Jane, a three-year-old filly owned by Howard Simpson, was recognized for her successful season the prior year, winning four firsts and finishing out of the money only twice in 14 harness racing starts in Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon.

After 10 years of ownership, Ray McKeachie sold his interests in Wilkie Gulf Oil Sales to Ed Swarbrick.

Unity Elks Lodge hosted district curling with rinks coming from places such as Stranraer, Ruthilda and Herschel. Winning mugs were Unity curlers Ray Kuhn, Zack Boser, John Kuhn and Alex Birn.

Unity Composite High School hosted the Northwest Regional Science Fair. UCHS students Carrie DeRoo and Myranda Schell, with their project H2Oasis, moved on to represent the region at nationals in Newfoundland.

Clint Gieni was welcomed to Unity Credit Union as the new ag account manager.

Local runners Keith Wilson and Rhonda Laturnus were heading to the Boston Marathon.

Making the North Sask. River Hockey League all-star teams were Sheldon Reschny and Jason Baier of Macklin and Jason Lloyd of Cut Knife. The Outlaws and Turtleford accumulated the most penalty minutes: 707.
