Main runway at YQR airport now open

Construction project on runway 13-31 is completed and runway is now back open.

REGINA - The main runway at Regina International Airport is now back open following a summer of construction in their runway rehabilitation project.

According to a post from the Regina Airport Authority on Facebook on Friday:

“Construction on runway 13-31 has now been completed and the runway was re-opened as of 8:30am today. Residents will notice flight paths returning to normal. Thank you to our community for your understanding over the summer construction period and we look forward to seeing you on your next trip from YQR.”

The project had gone on throughout the summer, with no impact to passengers coming to and from the airport with all flights diverted to use the airport’s secondary runway.

The runway rehabilitation was an overall $26 million project that was partially funded through the Government of Canada’s Airport Critical Infrastructure Program.
