Roughriders broadcaster John Lynch has died

REGINA - The Saskatchewan Roughriders have confirmed the news that longtime broadcaster John Lynch has died at age 86.

Lynch, nicknamed Frenzy, has been a Roughriders broadcaster for decades on a number of radio stations including CKCK and later CKRM, working as a Rider broadcast colour commentator as well as a radio post-game talk show host, among other roles.

The statement from the Roughriders is as follows:

"The Saskatchewan Roughriders are saddened to hear about the passing of longtime media member and former Roughrider colour analyst John Lynch. Many Roughrider fans grew up with Lynch is instantly recognizable voice on radio and television, offering smart analysis at a strong point of view. But beyond his professional capacity covering the team, John loved the Roughriders and shared that love with those around them. On behalf of Rider Nation, we send our condolences to his family, including his wife Margie, and his friends and loved ones.
