SASKATOON — Get ready to beat the heat as Saskatoon's spray pads are set to open on Thursday, June 1.

Residents can look forward to cooling off at numerous spray pad locations across the neighbourhood. The spray pads will be operational daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., starting this Thursday.

It is important to note that during June, from Monday to Friday, spray pads near school grounds will be turned off five minutes before recess and lunch breaks and resume five minutes after the breaks conclude.

The specific shut-off times will vary based on individual school schedules. Users can press the buttons near the spray features to activate the pads.

To prioritize water conservation, the City of Saskatoon is proud to take the lead in implementing a Water Conservation Strategy.

As part of this initiative, a project focused on seven spray pads will be launched in the coming weeks.

The project will involve the utilization of misters and lower-flow nozzles to reduce water consumption.

The spray pads in Briarwood, Evergreen, Hampton Village, Pleasant Hill, River Heights, Stonebridge and Willowgrove will benefit from these upgrades.

The installation process is expected to be quick and will not disrupt regular operations. These enhancements aim to decrease water use by an impressive 20 to 60 percent while ensuring users have 100 percent of the fun they expect.
