REGINA - Premier Scott Moe has called three provincial byelections to be held August 10.

The byelections are to fill the seats in Regina Coronation Park, Regina Walsh Acres and Lumsden-Morse.

While the three byelections will be held on August 10, there will be polls open throughout Voting Week which will run from August 3 to 10. According to a news release from the Premier's office, polls will open from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on August 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, and from 9 am to 8 p.m. August 10.

"Voters in these three constituencies will have a chance to decide which candidate will ensure Saskatchewan's strong growth continues and that it's growth that works for everyone," Moe said in a statement.

"I expect to see a strongly contested campaign by all parties and candidates."

Premier Moe was scheduled to meet reporters later this morning while NDP leader Carla Beck was scheduled for a media event in the afternoon.

Both the Sask Party and NDP have candidates in place in all three ridings while the Saskatchewan United Party has one candidate nominated so far, in Lumsden-Morse. All three seats had previously been held by the Sask Party. Mark Docherty, who held Coronation Park, and Lyle Stewart, who held Lumsden-Morse, resigned earlier this year. Regina Walsh Acres became vacant when MLA Derek Meyers died earlier this spring.
