Isaac Paredes lifts Tigers over Blue Jays 8-4 in Grapefruit League

Akil Baddoo had a solo home run for Detroit (3-3) and Javy Baez had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run.

Tarik Skubal got the start for the Tigers, giving up four hits and two runs over 2 2/3 innings pitched.

Chase Anderson (1-0) blew the save when he gave up a run in the fifth inning, tying the game 3-3. Anderson got the win, however, as he was still the pitcher of record when Paredes hit his homer.

George Springer's first home run of spring training tied the game for Toronto (4-3). Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had three hits and drove in two runs.

Hyun Jin Ryu gave up four hits and three earned runs over three innings in his first start of exhibition play.

Julian Merryweather (0-1) was charged with the loss after giving up Paredes's three-run shot.
