It was a trip to the northern reaches of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League the Yorkton Terriers would probably like to forget.
The Terriers were in Flin Flon for back-to-back games losing both.
The weekend losses leave the Terriers with a 14-24-2-3 record and 33 points, worst in the SJHL and the Viterra Division. Melville leads the Viterra quartet with 44-points, followed by Weyburn with 42 and Estevan with 41.
The first game was Friday in Flin Flon, and it was not close.
Joel Kocur gave the Bombers a lead 6:07 into the first, but Josh Ellis would get that one back for the Terriers at 11:44.
Tyler Bell would restore a Bomber lead with a powerplay marker at 14:02 of the first. The goal would be the eventual game-winner.
In the second Brandon Switzer, Parker Evans-Campbell and Brett Kitt would add goals for the Bombers.
In the third Switzer would add his second of the night, and Brett Boehm, who was with the Terriers down the stretch last season, scored for Flin Flon to round out a 7-1 win.
Dawson MacAuley started the game in the Terrier net facing 26 shots and allowing five goals before being pulled in favour of Matt Kustra who gave up two on 16 shots.
Simon Hofley had the start for the Bombers, but Conner Slipp played the final 10:47.
A night later it was an old-fashioned shoot-out in the Manitoba arena.
Austin Calladine and Kocur scored in the first for the host Bombers, with Daylan Gatzke responding for Yorkton.
In the second it was a shooting gallery. Chris Rauckman, Brandon Mason and Austin Evans scored for Flin Flon, while Kailum Gervais, Corwin Stevely, Kevin Wolf and Dylan Johnson responded for the Terriers, sending the teams into the third deadlocked 5-5.
In the third though the Terriers could not keep pace as Curtis Roach, Calladine and Rauckman with their second goals of the night struck for the Bombers while the Terriers were held scoreless.
Kustra started the game giving up five goals on 36-shots, with MacAuley facing 19 and allowing three in relief.
Hofley faced 46 to score the 8-5 win.
Home ice win
Last Tuesday, Jan. 20, Nipawin visited the Farrell Agencies Arena.
Tyson Enzie gave Yorkton a lead with a first period marker, but the lead evaporated as Blake Fournier and Kris Spriggs popped second period markers for the Hawks.
Riley Hunt would tie the game for Yorkton with the only marker of the third.
Tied 2-2 the game went to the five-minute, four-on-four overtime, but that did not decide the game, forcing a shoot-out which the Terriers managed to win.
MacAuley faced 40-shots in the win for Yorkton, while Joe O’Brien faced 44 for the Hawks.

The Terriers head south to play Notre Dame Friday, they are off to Humboldt for action Saturday.
Tuesday, Estevan is scheduled to visit the Terriers at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
