The Yorkton Xerox Bantam AA Terriers are down to their last four games of the regular season, and it has been a great season for them so far.

The Xerox Terriers are sitting in first place in the South Division Standings, and in second place in the league overall.

Their current record is 21-3-2-0, which gives them a total of 44 points.

Last weekend, the Xerox Terriers played two games on home ice at the Farrell Agencies Arena, which resulted in another two wins to their record.

On Friday, they faced the Estevan TS&M Bruins and defeated them 6-1.

Yorkton’s goals were scored by Massen Ziola, Josh Herman, Josh Peppler and Jackson Berezowski with a hat trick.

On Saturday, the Xerox Terriers faced the Regina Aces and took the win with a final score of 8-4.

But it wasn’t a simple game. The scoring was back and forth between the two teams during the first two periods. At the end of the second, the Xerox Terriers were down 4-3.

But in the third period, the Xerox Terriers came to life and racked up another four goals.

Yorkton’s goals were scored by Jackson Berezowski (4), Ryder Korczak (3) and Josh Peppler.

After Saturday’s game, head coach Dan Cross said it was a good game overall.

“We turned over a couple of pucks in the second period and we had a couple of bad penalties that I wasn’t very happy about,” said Cross. “Other than that, we were able to kill them off. The boys turned it up on the third period and had a great period.”

When asked about the successful season they’ve been having so far, Cross gave the credit to his team.

“They’re just a good group of kids and they work hard. Everyone has kind of found their role, especially after Christmas,” he said. “All of the players have really come on here.”

Last year, the Xerox Terriers won their third consecutive Saskatchewan Bantam AA League title. With playoffs closing in, Cross said they’re going to try to keep doing what they’re doing – for the most part.

“We’ll just keep working on the little things. Hopefully we don’t have those lulls that we had in the second period today,” he said. “When the boys decide they want to play, they can really crank it up.”

Forwards Jackson Berezowski and Ryder Korczak not only lead the team in points, but are also first and third respectively in the league scoring standings.

Berezowski currently has 78 points to his name, stemming from a whopping 38 goals and 40 assists. This puts him first in the league.

Close behind him is Korczak with 75 points from 24 goals and 51 assists, putting him in third place in the league.

The Xerox Terriers play at home again on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Kinsmen Arena, when they will take on the Saskatoon Maniacs who are the only team above them in the standings. It’s sure to be a good game, showcasing some of the best talent in the league. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m.
