THE BATTLEFORDS — The Battlefords’ Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team is on the hunt for a new head coach and general manager. Martin Smith came on in the interim to get the Stars through their 2024-25 season when a coaching vacancy occurred.

“We hope to have this position filled as soon as possible,” says Kennedy Schmidt, marketing and office manager.

The North Stars, who earned their way into playoffs, played a close opening series with the Weyburn Red Wings, which included two overtime games. However, they were unable to advance in the SJHL playoff quest.

Schmidt says the offseason includes a community garage sale and trade show on May 3 at the Access Communications Centre, all with proceeds benefitting the team.

“We will be announcing our annual hockey school in the next few weeks as well as having our season tickets up for sale with our season schedule coming out in mid June.,” adds Schmidt.
