Bjorkdale News: Dancers compete in Wadena

BJORKDALE — The Bjorkdale After School Program held their second annual Pysanky Ukrainian Egg decorating program with instructor Paulette Patchin of Porcupine Plain, former teacher at Bjorkdale School. More than 15 students came and decorated their own Ukrainian Easter egg. The Bjorkdale After School program is brought to Bjorkdale through funding from the Community Initiatives Fund.

There were four locals from the Porcupine School of dance that went to the Wadena dance competition on March 9 and 10. Nasya Orosz, Mirra Currey (gold in Senior hip hop), Abby van Oirschot (gold in senior hip hop) and Sarah Goldsworthy (gold in pre junior tap). All dancers performed well. Their next competition will be in Tisdale April 24-28.

The final Bonspiel of the season was held on March 9. The Family Funspiel had 9 teams out for a fun weekend of curling. All the teams received a prize and had a spaghetti supper on Saturday night. The Bjorkdale School also held a school bonspiel on Monday March 11 for Grade 3 to 12 and the entire school went skating.

The Bjorkdale Library is organizing a fundraising bingo night on Friday, March 22. Get your bingo dabbers out and come support the local library and have a chance to win big at the Bjorkdale bingo.
