NIPAWIN — The Town of Nipawin has issued a drinking water advisory for residents of 3A Street East beginning the morning of Aug. 28.
A Town of Nipawin public notice said the water main feeding the area will be shut off to allow for repairs. Because the safety of the water supply cannot be guaranteed during the work, the advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms the water is safe to drink.
Under the advisory, residents are asked to:
-
Boil all water used for drinking for at least one minute at a rolling boil.
-
Boil water before using it to brush teeth, soak dentures, wash fruits and vegetables, or prepare beverages and ice cubes.
-
Use boiled or sanitized water for dishwashing.
The statement said sponge baths are recommended for infants and young children. Older children and adults may bathe or shower using tap water but should avoid swallowing it. Laundry is not expected to be affected.
The Town of Nipawin will notify residents when the advisory is lifted.
For more information, residents can contact the town office at 306-862-9866 or the utility supervisor at 306-862-7903.
