HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt and District Museum will host Chalk Art Day on Aug. 22, outside the museum.
Catherine Harrison, the museum’s cultural programmer, said, “Two talented local artists will take over the street between the museum and gallery from 4 to 7 p.m. during StreetFest, an annual event put on by the Humboldt Downtown BID committee. Dylan Burton and Anthony Ross will be creating their own unique chalk art pieces on the street.
“We need everyone’s help to create a beautiful border around their work. Drop by between 4 and 7 p.m. to colour part of the frame. All chalk is provided,” Harrison said.
Burton will be a featured Chalk Art Day artist for the third consecutive year. Burton said their favourite part of creating chalk art is sharing it with many people and brightening their day. Burton’s hobbies include writing, crocheting and acting.
“They are an artist at heart and love making things for others to see and enjoy,” the museum said.
Ross will join Chalk Art Day for the first time.
“Ross shows people why living creatively matters. He is a modern-day renaissance artist with a passion for illustration, acting, storytelling, movement and more. He brings life to his work with expressions inspired by inner reflection, dreams and the natural beauty of the world. Ross grew up in B.C. and now lives in Humboldt with his partner, Nicole.”
Free chalk will be available at the museum throughout August while supplies last.
The Humboldt and District Museum offers year-round cultural programming, including exhibits, workshops and community events designed to engage residents of all ages.
