MELFORT — Melfort will host the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) tour for the first time on May 31.
There will be 20 professional bull riders at this sanctioned event, which will last approximately three hours. This will be the fourth stop in the Canadian Touring Pro Division.
Mark Ripley, owner of Ripley Ford, said, “This will be the first time for PBR in Melfort. It will be all the top riders from North America and Brazil. We got some really great major sponsors that showed up — Co-op, Brandt, Redhead, Fouillard Carpet, T.W. Enterprises, Worley Hoppers, Backstage Music. They made this event happen. All the money made will get donated back to three great organizations — the Melfort Fire Department, North Central Health Care Foundation and Youth Matters — three really deserving groups. We hope everyone has a great night out, that’s what it's all about.”
The Melfort Mustangs will be running the bar, which will stay open for a couple of hours after the event. The 4-H Club will be looking after the barbecue during the event. The Ripley Rumble PBR event will start at 6 p.m. on May 31, and will be located adjacent to the Ripley Ford parking lot.
Ripley said tickets are already two-thirds sold out. There is room for approximately 700 people.
