June 1, the seniors' centre members looked after the funeral tea for the late Alice Duffee. The memorial service was held at the Baptist Church. Alice and her husband, Loryen, were valuable workers for the seniors' centre for many years until health problems required they move to Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. to be closer to their son.

Following the tea members stayed for the monthly meeting chaired by Margaret MacEachern. Margaret gave a report on the SSAI district meeting, which was attended recently at Livelong. She was accompanied by Dorothy Schwartz. An order is to be sent for 200 upholstered chairs for the centre. There will be wooden chairs for sale at $1 each and upholstered ones at $5 each. Anyone interested can contact any member of the centre.

A Father's Day Tea will be held June 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a bake table, raffles, door prize and Father's Day gift.

Hiring someone to mow the lawn was discussed and will be taken care of by the president.

There will be no cards or bingo during the months of July and August. The July-August birthday potluck will be held Aug. 24 with supper at 5 p.m. Members will gather prior to supper for cards, pool or games of choice.

The 25th anniversary tea was held June 2 with disappointing attendance. The centre was decorated for the occasion and a huge anniversary cake was ordered. The local MLA and the Maidstone mayor sent letters of congratulations, but did not attend. Reeve Garry Taylor personally brought congratulations and remarked on how many others than seniors make use of this modern, spacious building. Margaret MacEachern was MC for the program. Dorothy Schwartz gave a brief account of the history of the seniors' organization and the creation of the building itself. She is the only remaining member of the original building committee. Thank you to the 21 people who took the time to attend.

The card game 500 was played June 4 with a small attendance. High score went to Jean Hartman and low to Jean Stewart. Lunch consisted of some of the anniversary cake from Saturday served by Jean Stewart.
