Awards and prizes at Edam Credit Union's annual meeting

April is quickly coming to a close and the weather is warming up nicely. I have noticed the odd air seeder pass by our home and this will mean that everyone should be extra careful now that the seeding season is quickly approaching.

A Team Thomas Benefit will be held April 30 at the Edam Community Centre at 5 p.m. This is a fundraiser to assist the family of Thomas Seipp with the upcoming medical and travel expenses that will be associated with Thomas' surgery. Thomas is 14 and has developed Pectis Evacatum, which means his sternum is pressing against his heart, causing it to operate at only 40 per cent capacity, as well as one of his lungs operating at 50 per cent. As a result, surgery must be performed although it is not yet known where or when this surgery will take place, as more tests are being conducted.

Thomas lives with his family in Edam and is very active in the community. He is involved in hockey, baseball, helping with the building of the new Community Centre, junior fire fighters and much more. In order to raise money for the family, this event will consist of a light supper, a silent auction and numerous raffle station draws. There will also be a 50/50 available along with a cash bar. For further information or to donate any way you can, please contact the Team Thomas committee: Remi Bec, 397-2817; Ruth Bec, 397-2719; Ray Suderman, 397-2850; Marie Harty, 441-8428; or Janice Baillargeon, 501-8683.
