At the John Paul II Awards Night, June 15, six students were awarded with Crusader of the Month Awards.

Division IV winners included Grade 12 students Nicole Barber, Alison Mandin and Chantel Katcheech. The Division III recipients were Grade 9 students Kahra Price, Calvin Wuttunee and Jocelyn Hrabinsky.

Nicole has been on the JPII SRC for the past four years, taking on the role of Senior Ring for the 2010-11 school year. Nicole has always been committed to her duties on the SRC. She is a patient and responsible leader who leads with energy and calmness. Nicole is also a member of the JPII Yearbook committee, working hard to ensure the school's yearbook gets completed. SADD is another group in the school in which Nicole is an active member. She is respected by staff and students alike. Any task Nicole takes on will be completed to the best of her ability. Even though Nicole is busy with many extra-curricular commitments, she is an honour roll student in French immersion and advanced placement programs.

Alison has attended John Paul II since Grade 8 and has added much to the school community with her hard work, dedication and positive attitude. She has spent hours with the yearbook staff over the years creating layouts and organizing pages. Ali has been been an extremely valuable member of SADD, most recently serving as vice-president for our chapter. Ali can always be counted on to willingly lend a hand. Her bright smile and quiet sense of humour will be missed at the school after she graduates.

Chantel has attended John Paul II since Grade 8 and has added a sparkle to the school with her ever present grin and positive attitude. She gets along with her teachers and peers alike and is always quick to lend a helping hand. Chantel is also great with junior students. She puts everyone she meets at ease. Chantel's diligence and perseverance in the classroom and on the soccer field is exemplary.

Kahra has been involved in a number of activities over the past year, both in the John Paul II Community and in North Battleford. She is an honour roll student in the French immersion program. Kahra has been involved in junior sports such a volleyball, basketball and badminton. She leads by example and is an excellent role model for her teammates. In addition, Kahra has assisted with SRC activities and performed many extra hours of community service.

Calvin is a talented dancer. In fact, his Micheal Jackson impersonation may be better than the real McCoy. Calvin has shared his talents with the school at our various talent nights. He maintained a high 70s average this term. Calvin earned the school's most improved student award in Grade 9 for his increase in grades and his choice to attend regularly and work at his classes. He has had to make a lot of changes to be as successful as he is.

Jocelyn has been an active and valuable member of SADD since she started at John Paul. She is always willing to step up be involved in SADD events. Jocelyn has also been involved in other school clubs such as SRC and the Key Club. Her positive and cheerful attitude is infectious. She is an asset to all activities she engages in. Even though Jocelyn is kept busy with extra activity, she maintains a high level of academic proficiency.

All six crusaders are excellent models of our Catholic Christian values. John Paul II Collegiate appreciates the gift of time they offer and the model of leadership they provide.
