The village of Denholm celebrated 100 years, 1912-2012.

Registration was June 29. Coffee and dainties as well as a cash bar were available.

The next day started off with a continental breakfast, followed by a parade. Ivan White announced the parade entrants. Lunch started at 11:30 a.m. and on the menu were smokies, hotdogs, popcorn, pop and chips.

The opening ceremony started at 1 p.m. with a birthday cake. There was musical entertainment from 1 to 5 p.m. Entertainers were: Homeward Bound featuring Dwight Hemmerling and John Archer; Sheryle and Ashraf Ogram; Country Cousins featuring Joan and Wilf Rice and Ben Stenerson; Mr. Hank featuring Howard Bulmer, Mel Deagnon, Larry Symynuk and Wilf Rice; Keeping it Country featuring Larry Symynuk, Dennis Pidwerbeski and Duane Heinz; Dale Updike; and Karaoke with Trudy Beaudoin.

There was tremendous support from the surrounding area to assist in making this event a success. They were fortunate to be in receipt of a very generous grant through the Community Vitality Program. This program is designed to support projects and events that build community pride, social cohesion and celebrate heritage. It was their hope that this event would bring the old back and inspire the new to keep their community vital and full of pride.

Various historical records including copies of the original bylaws for the village as well as early council minutes were available for viewing. As the actual records were very delicate they had made photocopies for reading.

There was a supper and a dance later on in the day followed by fireworks in memory of Terry Welch.

A non-denominational church service was held July 1 followed by a pancake and sausage breakfast.

The Village of Denholm would like to thank all the organizers for such a great event and everyone for the great turnout for this celebration.
