Garage sale supports charities

A pleasant spring is upon us enticing us to go outdoors as often as possible. This is the season for collecting donations for the Canadian Cancer Society. Many folks gave generously.

A pleasant spring is upon us enticing us to go outdoors as often as possible. This is the season for collecting donations for the Canadian Cancer Society. Many folks gave generously. Hopefully, enough funds can be raised to provide for research and a cure found for this brutal disease.

April 16, a successful indoor garage sale was held in the lounge. Small appliances, some house ware items, seasonal decorations, a few nice clothes soon found themselves new owners. Proceeds from this sale went to the Children's Wish Foundation and Interval House.

Of interest to our gardening enthusiasts, a list of the available plots is on the bulletin board, waiting for folks in both Towers to sign.

We are glad to welcome Mervin Knuttson, as he makes his new home in our complex. May he feel free to join us in all the activities we enjoy.

April13 was the day set for the birthday party to honour all April celebrants. Very pleasurable music, so comforting to listen to, was played by Dwight Hemmerling, Leon Ochs and Jon Archer. A delicious lunch of cake, ice cream and strawberries concluded the delightful evening. Happy birthday to Helen Hrabia, Verna Chatfield, Lena Roberts and Joyce Campbell.

Sincere wishes for a speedy recovery to Audrey Knight, Sophie Nykiforuk and others who are just not feeling very well these days.

Heartfelt sympathy to Joyce Milnthrop on the recent loss of her grandson.

A shuffleboard tournament took place April 27 and 28. Fourteen teams signed up to join in the fun. Many thanks to Dorreen Svare and helpers for preparing mouth watering snacks. Much appreciated is Joan Bannerman's care of the board and the score sheet. Expert referees were Phyllis Maloney, Alice Horn, Madeleine Blouin and Ruth Hrynewich. Winners and runners up in each event are: A event - Ken Gagne and Ray Ouellette, Betty Moore and Louis Johnson; B event - Lise Watch and Phyllis Maloney, Joan Bannerman and Joyce Milnthorp; C Event - Alice Horn and Ken Elliot, Lydia Litchfield and Ruth Hrynewich; D Event - Carl Schell and Eva Stevenot, Peter Mykytuk and Madeleine Blouin.
