Marsden Jubilee School held their annual Scholastic Book Fair from Nov. 19 through 22, during the week of parent/teacher interviews. The school made a profit of $961.74 to be used towards purchasing product for the school. James Fouhse won the family event - $25 worth of books for himself and another $25 worth of books for his Grade 1 and 2 classroom.
For the first time, this year Marsden Jubilee School was able to support Operation Christmas Child. Every donation, from individual items to filled boxes, was accepted and they were able to donate 30 boxes. Appreciation to everyone who supported this charitable venture.
Members of the cooking club at Marsden Jubilee School have made sloppy joes and French fries. In the next two sessions, they plan to make mini pies, sugar cookies and decorate gingerbread houses.
In January the Grade 1 and 2 class will be learning about the history of Marsden. To make it more interactive for the students, Mrs. Erickson is looking to have some speakers come into the school to talk to the class. Topics include: "How has Marsden changed?", "Why are local places named the way they are?" and "What is the history of our school?" If you would be willing to come in and speak to the class, please call the school.
Marsden Jubilee School has a Grade 5 and 6 volleyball team this year. So far they have played Neilburg and Marshall. The students are working hard to improve their skills and are having a great time.
Students from Marsden Jubilee School will exchange names for Christmas and will take $10 gifts which will be given to one another on the last day of school.
The Marsden Jubilee School Christmas concert will be held Friday, Dec. 13, with Monday, Dec. 16 as the alternate date. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Marsden Community Hall. There will be a silver collection to assist with the costs associated with the hall rental.
The annual Christmas bingo will be held at the school Dec. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. Food hampers will be given away, as well as various other prizes. The winner of the blackout bingo will receive a turkey. Cards are priced at just 50 cents each. Everyone is welcome.
After the bingo, the Marsden School Community Council will be serving an early Christmas dinner to the students and staff. Mrs. Watson is organizing this and will notify each family what they need to bring. Don't forget to donate one food item, per student, so the bingo will once again be a success.
Marsden Jubilee School is participating in the Tell Them From Me online survey program and are asking parents and guardians to answer questions prior to Dec. 16 regarding how the school and the home can work together to provide the best possible educational experience for your children. Don't forget to let your feelings be known.
