May activities begin with Mother's Day breakfast

Hi there! Well May wasn't a great month weather wise, but it's nice to see the lovely green grass and all the trees out in leaf now. Many have been planting their gardens and flowers around here and hoping for some rain to make things grow.

Hi there! Well May wasn't a great month weather wise, but it's nice to see the lovely green grass and all the trees out in leaf now. Many have been planting their gardens and flowers around here and hoping for some rain to make things grow.

May has been a busy month here in the tower. There have been many activities going on recently.

We enjoyed a Mother's Day breakfast May 8. Delicious pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries as well as ham, potatoes, toast, tea, coffee and juice were enjoyed. Thank you to all those who prepared such a bountiful fare.

Our birthday party for May and June was held May 16. Many happy returns of the day go to: May - Walter Major, Toni l'Heureux, Theresa Berton, Edith Lockhart, Bernice Laughton, Mario Pasutto and Shirley Williams; June - Anne Loades, Vivian Bertsch and Chris Pearson. We were so glad to have the Eagle Hill Band entertain us with their wonderful music. Afterwards a tasty dessert of fancy decorated cupcakes and ice cream was served to all. A nice social evening was had by all.

May 20 we had a barbeque of hamburgers, beans, salads, baked potatoes and dessert in our lounge. Harry Smith was kept busy barbecuing on the patio and turning out delicious hamburgers for us all. Thank you, Harry, and all those who helped to make such a wonderful meal.

We are also very glad to have Second to None cater for us. They prepared a tasty dinner of ham and scalloped potatoes May 27, which we all enjoyed. Afterwards John Alm, John Archer and Bob Mallet delighted us with their special music.

May 28, Mario Pasutto celebrated his 90th birthday with a come and go tea in our lounge. It was a lovely afternoon of visiting and taking pictures of Mario and his family and friends who came to wish him a very happy 90th birthday.

A beautifully decorated carrot cake and coffee was enjoyed by all.

On the long weekend, Ida Baker had her grandson and a friend visit her from Sherwood Park, Alta. I'm sure you enjoyed their company, Ida.

Ruby Hrabia visited a good friend in Saskatoon for a few days. I can imagine you would have lots to talk about, Ruby.

Marie Day also enjoyed company from her family in Swift Current and some areas of Alberta. Marie will be a 100 years in September. I'm sure there will be a big celebration then.

Ann Ewanchuk had a sad month of May. Her husband's nephew, Dale Ewanchuk of Rimby, Alta. and his brother Dennis from Penticton both passed away.

On May 3, Ann had her second hip replaced at City Hospital in Saskatoon. Her daughter Erinka and husband Rory and also an old acquaintance, Jeanie Dalynny from Saskatoon visited her while she was in the hospital.

In the eighth day after surgery, her son-in-law Rory and granddaughter Daricia Russell drove her home. She has some recuperating to do before beginning physiotherapy. She really appreciated that her granddaughter Lesha and Craig did her vacuuming and dusting for her, also bringing Anne's favourite quarter pounder. She received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from son Euhan and Debbie from Fort St. John, B.C.

"Cemetery day" in Whitkow was missed by Ann for the first time. Here daughter-in-law Chris and Orest took over her duty of bringing the Kalach and fruit basket. Mother's Day cards and also get well cards were received from son Roman and Liz. Ann attended the funeral of her cousin Natalie's husband, Tom Kowalkchi. It was nice to see so many relatives. We are so glad to see Ann up and around here at the high rise. We hope you will soon be as good as new again, Ann.

We were so sorry to see that Nancy Milnthorp broke her arm a while ago. We hope it will soon be healed, Nancy, and no more climbing.

Alice Bernier's aunt from Biggar passed away recently. She was 99 years old so she lived a good long life.

Get well wishes go out to any of those that are on the sick list. We hope you will feel better soon.

Its nice to see Mildred Zander is out of hospital now and feeling well again

We hope we get some nice warm weather in June. See you next month.
