Maidstone Museum members hosted the annual silent auction in conjunction with the Maidstone Chamber of Commerce trade show April 5 and 6 at the Maidstone Arena.
The weatherman co-operated and there was a great turnout. Several thousand people attended the two-day event and entered for a door prize donated by the Chamber of Commerce and CIBC. The patio set and outdoor clock were won by Marie Nicholson Jr.
More than 40 vendors attended with a wide variety of items for sale or promotion. The generous Maidstone people, plus numerous businesses donated 180 items to be bid on in the silent auction. A framed picture was raffled and won by Lois Myer of Maidstone and a door prize donated by Video Junction was won by Bernard Young of Lashburn.
A roast beef supper hosted by the museum members was served after closing time Saturday night for the venders and exhibitors, About 140 attended.
The financially successful auction was made possible by the items, gift certificates and cash donations given by Maidstone and area residents and businesses.
Thanks go also to the dedicated museum members and helpers who gave of their time prior to and during the two-day event. Significant time and effort goes into organizing ahead of time and following these events. Rodney and Brenda Marflett and members of the Chamber of Commerce deserve appreciation for stepping up and co-ordinating the trade show.
Those who helped with the silent auction got together at Sunny's Restaurant for a delicious Chinese supper Sunday evening.
