Musicians jam in Redberry Bowl

A great time was had at Redberry Lake Regional Park June 12. Redberry Lake Regional Park is located 13 kilometres east of Hafford, just south of Highway 40. Special thanks to Russ and Karen McNutt who organized a day in the park's Redberry Bowl.

Gary Gallie was guest of honour at a surprise 65th birthday party in his honour.

A great time was had at Redberry Lake Regional Park June 12. Redberry Lake Regional Park is located 13 kilometres east of Hafford, just south of Highway 40.

Special thanks to Russ and Karen McNutt who organized a day in the park's Redberry Bowl. There was great entertainment by the bands who came at no charge. They have committed themselves for next year.

Those attending were entertained by Sound Wave - Gord Mosher, Lowelle McLaren, Gor and Chris McCauley from Saskatoon and Ed Dajcke from Blaine Lake.

Also in the bowl was Stetson, also from Saskatoon, which featured Gerald Lyle and Carl Weibe.

Unusual Suspect from Prince Albert included Shawn Mayor, Evan Swalm and Byron Olson, who filled in for one of the musicians (sorry, I didn't get the name of the base player).

The last act up was Jack and The Ripper from Hafford featuring Russ and Karen McNutt and Jack Hills and Sherry Richard.

Also entertaining was Redberry Grass - Stephanie, David and Sam Derbowka - from Borden

A bridal shower for Shauna Acaster, daughter of Wayne and Vickie, was held at the Ruddell Community Centre May 22.

Ruby Harder introduced the head table - Shawna Acaster , Kim Meena, Krista Wood and Janna Hillestad, bridesmaids, Breanna Grzybowski and Ally Rawly, flowerbgirls; Vickie Acaster, mother of the bride, and Sharon Ceslak, mother of the groom.

Colleen Soule gave a brief history, describing Shauna from when she was growing up as a neighbour until present times. Shauna and fiancé Stephen Ceslak now live in Winnipeg. Ruber Harder presented gifts and lunch was served.

Shauna said she felt honoured to return home to such a welcoming reception. She thanks all who attended including Stephan's aunts and cousins who travelled far.

Keynote speaker at the Living Sky School Division Student Hall of Fame celebration June 9 at North Battleford Western Development Museum was Brad Wall Premier of Saskatchewan.

The program recognizes the accomplishments of students from Grades 10 to 12 in the areas of academics, athletics, arts, leadership and special projects. The event is hosted by the board of education.

Maymont Central School students Honoured for academics were: Grade 10 - Amy Tanner, Caitlyn Gray, Kelsey Fouhy. Grade 11 - Dillon Prescesky, Kaitlyn Dubyk, Scott Tanner. Grade 12 - Chyanne Vayro, Gregory Maxwell and Justin Gillatt.

Honoured for great distinction were Luka Smith and Tell Kieper.

In athletics boys' 2A volleyball team members Beau Garrett, Brock Clayton, Chad Bernier, Derek Clayton, Justin Gillatt, Lukas Smith, Reegan Johnston, Tell Kieper and Ty Ellis were honoured.

Maymont boot camp ladies will be hosting a steak night at the Maymont Hotel June 24. Proceeds are going to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure.

There is a garage sale at Maymont Hall Saturday, come rain or shine. There will also be hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks for sale. Later on in the evening there will be a potluck supper and jam session. Supper starts at 6 p.m. Come out to join us.

Maymont Sharon United Church, 1911-2011, is celebrating its centennial July 17 at 11 a.m. A church service will be followed by lunch and a program at Maymont Central School gymnasium.

A 65th surprise party was held at the seniors' center in Maymont for Gary Gallie. In attendance were family and friends. Even though many of us just about slipped we hung in there to surprise Gary. Happy birthday again, Gary. We hope you enjoyed your party.
