Quilts brighten Christmas for those in need

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly," so says the refrain from a well known Christmas carol. The members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild would like to add, "and quilted items, too" to brighten the festive season.

Members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild have made 22 small quilts to be included in Empty Stocking Fund Christmas hampers.

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly," so says the refrain from a well known Christmas carol.

The members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild would like to add, "and quilted items, too" to brighten the festive season. Indeed, plans to do just that have been in evidence for a while, and as a result 22 small quilts will be donated to the Empty Stocking Fund for inclusion in Christmas hampers.

Despite Christmas preparations being in full swing, 16 members of the guild met Friday to share their passion for quilting and display their most recent quilted projects, many destined to be gifts. These included placemats, wall hangings and shoe bags to mention just a few, all of which will delight the lucky recipient during the festive season.

Guild members are always looking for new, inspirational challenges, and to that end plans for the New Year include Celtic quilt designs, ways of handling quilt panels to best advantage, a circular block technique and to complete the program of simple four block design. Be sure to come and participate in this interesting program.

New members are welcome and encouraged to call Irene at 937-3551 or Barb at 445-0486 for information about the guild.

The members of Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe festive season.
