Saskatchewan Culture Days Art Salon calling for submissions

The second annual Saskatchewan Culture Days festival is taking place throughout the province from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.

The second annual Saskatchewan Culture Days festival is taking place throughout the province from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.

The festival brings artists and the public together to "raise the awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities."

This year, North Battleford will hold a number of events for the public throughout the community.

Among these is the Art Salon, which will run in the City Hall Art Studio from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. Inspired by the French Salons of years gone by, the event is a celebration of regional art, fine craft, and local culture. Local artists are invited to submit one piece of art for the salon, but performance pieces or readings are also welcome.

The exhibit is unjuried, and the only limitations are on the artwork itself. Art must be framed or otherwise possible to hang, and two-dimensional works must be a maximum of one metre, unless they can be folded. All work must fit through a regular-sized doorway. Submissions can be dropped off at the Allen Sapp Gallery until Sept 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the Creative pARTnership at chapelgallery@sasktel.net.
