Weather advances harvest operations

Harvest has been in full swing with above normal temperatures. The long weekend was a bit on the cool side and we even had to start the furnace in our camper one of those evenings. However it was a lazy weekend for us.

Harvest has been in full swing with above normal temperatures. The long weekend was a bit on the cool side and we even had to start the furnace in our camper one of those evenings. However it was a lazy weekend for us. There were things we should have been doing, but it was nice to sit back and read a good book.

The students returned to school Aug. 31, with the SRC holding a welcome back assembly in the first class of the day followed by the students settling into their home rooms. This year the school welcomed six newcomers who have moved into the area. These students are: Danielle Corbeil (Grade 11), Tristen Wagner (Grade 5), Ashten Wagner (Grade 1), Ryan Easton (Grade 1), Phillip Easton (Grade 3) and Latisha Easton (Grade 5). Welcome to the community and we hope you enjoy living here.

Congratulations to the August trip of the month winners, Kevin and Angela Blanchette of Edam, and the winners of the $100, Jerome and Paula Bru of North Battleford.

We would like to welcome a new business into the community. Louis McCaffrey has opened Drop Anchor RV Park just on the south outskirts of Edam. This will be a year round, full hook-up RV park. For more information contact Louis at 441-6212. Congratulations, Louis!

The Edam Community Centre is holding a beef raffle, thanks to the donation of a 4-H beef by Louis' Electric. Tickets are $10 each or three for $20. You can purchase your ticket at the community centre, the Edam Credit Union or the post office. There will be two draws, each receiving a half of beef.

The school sport season has now started and I will have reports in the near future of the events and team results. With volleyball, cross country running and golf, the students will be busy with practices and tournaments. I will keep you posted.
