Well, we almost made it to Christmas break without a snow day but the horrible wind chill Friday meant the buses were unable to run. Hopefully it will be the only one until after Christmas break. Thanks to our bus drivers for putting the safety of our students first.
Last Tuesday, our boys' basketball team ventured to Macklin for an exhibition game. Our team is made of senior and junior players so, every time they play, they gain more and more court experience. This week they travel to Cando Tuesday and Cando returns to Maymont Thursday. Good luck in your games and play well.
Miss Roxanne Jordan will be teaching at the school until the end of June. She will be teaching in the Grade 7 and 8 classroom while Mrs. Krista Nickell is on leave.
Carter Amson, a Grade 12 student, has spent most of the school year in Lethbridge where he plays for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. We wish him a speedy recovery as he currently has a fractured wrist.
We were very pleased to have Marcy Harris come to our school Dec. 6, as a parent volunteer. She helped change bulletin boards, put up decorations, make calendars and make props for the Christmas concert. Her help was greatly appreciated.
Mrs. Cardin and Mr. Lockwood organized a farewell gathering for Corrina and Gary Cromarty Friday afternoon. Mrs. Cardin made a cake and their fellow classmates wished them well. They are leaving Maymont Central School and will be attending school in North Battleford.
We also have to say good-bye to Rachel McAllister. She has been interning in the kindergarten and Grade 1 classroom all fall. She finished her duties at Maymont and will be returning to the university after Christmas. We wish her all the best.
George and Irene Hamp visited the school Dec. 9. They distribute Gideon Bibles to the students in Grade 5. This is done throughout our school division.
The travel club will be selling tickets on a Christmas hamper. The tickets will be available at the Christmas concert. The draw will be made at the Christmas concert.
The kindergarten to Grade 6 students have been working really hard to prepare their items for the Christmas concert. Please remember it will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7:15 p.m.
The last day of school in 2013 will be Friday, Dec. 20. Classes resume Monday, Jan. 6, 2014.
