Winding down for the summer

Most of the activities at Battleford Hillcrest Centre are winding down for the summer months. However, Kaiser continues on Thursday evenings.

The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, June 14, when Roy and Bev Tornberg, delegates to the SSAI convention June 7-9, will give their report. The seniors don't meet in July, but will gather again in August.

The new "Meal Deal" program, held once a month on a Friday, will resume in September, as well as the Thursday afternoon knitting group and Monday afternoon Scrabble. The twice monthly cribbage evening will also resume in September.

Computer lessons are continuing. The singers meet Friday afternoons until the end of June. They are enjoying their new books, put together by Bev Tornberg, especially the larger print.

The recent garage sale netted almost $300. At the last meeting a vote of thanks was extended to all those who worked so hard with it.

At the last monthly potluck supper we were entertained by two of the Four Gents. We usually have some musical entertainment at the potlucks, but occasionally play bingo instead.

The Wellness Clinic continues to offer their welcome services once a month.

Twelve residents and two care givers of Battlefords District Care Centre attended the May social, which we host once a month, except in July and August.

The flowers will soon be planted in the front and side of the building.

Altogether, it was a rewarding year for members of Hillcrest Centre and it is hoped everyone will enjoy the summer break.
