see you at the theatre
THE BATTLEFORDS - Battlefords Community Plays continue to work through the restrictions of COVID to provide the Battlefords with a safe place to enjoy the best in live theatre. Got your tickets yet?

We are approaching opening night of the first shows of the season: “The Foyer” by local writer Barb O’Neal and “Cowboys and Actors” by the late Battleford writer Eric Anderson. Buy a ticket to the show only or a whole package which we have available until the end of October that will save you 20 per cent. Buy a show only or a dinner theatre package. Enjoy the play only or dinner and the play. The show runs starting Oct. 26 through to Nov. 6 and tickets are now available. There are many options with eight performances for each of the four shows scheduled for this 2021-22 season.

Being a season ticket holder can also get you the opportunity for a discount on visiting performances, like “Shirley Valentine” that ran Oct. 1 and 2. Heather Macnab from Maple Creek performed to a full house and provided a wonderful evening of this exciting one-woman show. BCP was proud to be hosting her and thank everyone who supported this visiting performer. We are so glad she was able to share this amazing play with the Battlefords.

BCP is always looking for the opportunity to give the Battlefords more live entertainment. Is there something you think we should consider? Let us know.

Performers in “The Foyer” are Candice Brown, Candace Dustan, Chantelle Cunningham, Bob Horrell, Shelly Coates, Clint Barrett, Liz Smith and Geordie Smith. Actors in “Cowboys and Actors” are Carol Keller, Bob Horrell, Andrew Miller and Fraser Glen. Both plays are stage managed by Cindy Coupal and script assistant Barb Kirby and directed by Roy J. Challis.

The second play of the season is being directed by Jim Walls and rehearsals started this past week with the cast of Chantelle Cunningham, Crystal Gilbert, Holly Briant and Glen Rubidge in “Here on the Flight Path” by Norm Foster, one of Canada’s most produced playwrights. It is a great comedy for a small Christmas social or office event but you must book early to ensure a table as seating continues to be limited.

Remember acting isn’t the only thing that makes a show great. We need people to make or find costumes, sets need building and painting, we need volunteers to host, actors need hairstyles and makeup help, we need people who like to read plays and board members. Does lighting and sound interest you? There are many opportunities and an interest is the first thing needed. We can train.

Let’s all work to keep to bring live theatre to the Battlefords. See you at the theatre.
