HUMBOLDT — Nominations have opened for the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Mark of Excellence awards.
“This year, more than ever, it's important that we really recognize and just let businesses know that we appreciate what they've done,” said Brent Fitzpatrick, the chamber’s executive director.
There are 12 awards that businesses can be nominated for this year, including an Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Community Involvement Award, Youth Involvement Award and New Business Venture Award.
This year, there is also a new Adaptive Business Award, given to those businesses that have excelled in adapting to the conditions caused by the pandemic.
Residents can also nominate the inductee for the Business Hall of Fame
The deadline for nominations is Sunday, Jan. 31. The forms can be downloaded at humboldtchamber.ca or obtained at the chamber office.
Fitzpatrick said that achieving the excellence required is already difficult in a normal year, let alone with a pandemic, which is why residents should take five minutes out of their day to fill out the form.
“It takes no time to do this and it means the world to businesses to be recognized for what they do everyday,” he said. “These folks work hard every single day and to be recognized for that, just for doing a great job, that really means something.”
Fitzpatrick encouraged people to get the filled-out nomination forms to the chamber as soon as possible so they can be judged. The North Battleford Chamber of Commerce will be tasked with selecting the winners.
The awards will take place virtually on Wednesday, March 31.
