Anne Sitter of Blaine Lake was proud to present a cheque for $500 to Blaine Lake Seniors Centre president Marj Pool. Sitter is a CIBC retiree qualifying her for participation in the CIBC Retirees as Ambassadors Program. CIBC retirees have a long history of being active volunteer members within their community giving their time and expertise in various organizations.
The CIBC Retirees as Ambassadors Program was created to support the volunteer efforts of retirees actively involved with community initiatives or charitable organizations. The program funding is $50,000 annually to various organizations across the country.
Sitter has been a member of the Blaine Lake Seniors Association for 20 years and has served as a director for 10. She has assisted with numerous fundraisers and events including that of the cash lotto which funds were used for the building and expansion project. The seniors have held numerous fundraisers such as barbecues, soup and sandwich lunches, potluck suppers, jam sessions and cash calendars.
Sitter submitted an application requesting $500 to go towards the seniors' centre and was pleased to be able to present the exact amount to the organization.
The seniors' centre is a vital part of the community as it acts as a place for seniors to socialize. The association promotes the mental and physical well-being and active participation of senior citizens as well as all members of the community.
