The date for Battleford's 29th annual parade has been set for Friday, July 19, its usual timing in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Handcraft Festival weekend.
At the March 4 regular meeting of town council, Councillor Shelley Boutin-Gervais said the possibility of changing the date had been discussed at recent Battleford and District Parks and Recreation Board meeting. The discussion centered around the declining number of entries, and the possibility that a date change might make a difference, however it was decided to leave it in place for this year.
Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Randy Redding said the committee is looking for suggestions for this year's theme. Last year's theme was one of royalty, in keeping with a year that saw a royal wedding and Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.
