Battlefords law enforcement always diligent

Don’t drink and drive

A report of shots fired in Battleford brought police to the corner of 25th Street and 1st Avenue.

Impaired driving by alcohol or drugs has consistently ranked as the leading road safety concern among Canadians for the past decade.

As in past holiday seasons and throughout the year, police officers of the Battlefords RCMP are out again in full force, taking impaired drivers off the streets and encouraging everyone throughout the holiday season to plan a safe ride home, before they have their first drink.

Battlefords RCMP continue their road checks, patrols and responding to calls from the public in search of impaired drivers. The goal of those officers looking for impaired drivers is to help make sure your family makes it safely home.

The decision to drink and get behind the wheel may have tragic consequences. If you choose to drink and drive, you could lose your license and your car, or worse, kill yourself or someone else.

Battlefords RCMP also have officers trained as drug recognition experts and have over the past year laid charges against persons operating motor vehicles under the influence of both prescription and illegal drugs.

In the month of November 2015, the Battlefords RCMP charged 14 impaired drivers in the Battlefords area.
