Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation has announced they are now a partner of ChangeIt, an exciting new way to donate while making everyday purchases using your BMO and RBC credit cards or select credit union debit cards.
ChangeIt allows shoppers to automatically round up their purchases and donate the difference to a charity of their choice.
“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money in support of health care in the Battlefords. The ChangeIt program fit that criterion,” shares Claudette McGuire, BUH Foundation executive director.
“It is easy to participate in and you can make a difference for health care with your everyday purchases of groceries and your morning cup of coffee.”
Donors do not have to change the way they do business in order to make a difference in their communities through ChangeIt, according to the foundation. Receipts will not look different, but ChangeIt will automatically round up sales, based on preferences set and monthly maximums in place and forward the differences to BUH Foundation. Donors will receive monthly reports letting them know how much they have given. BUH Foundation will issue a yearly receipt for total amounts donated.
The foundation says, by simply signing up and continuing to make their regular purchases donors will have the satisfaction of enriching patient care within the Battlefords and making charitable giving a part of their everyday transactions.
“We are excited to be a part of ChangeIt and are looking forward to attracting new donors, and perhaps a younger demographic of donors, to keep our support strong for BUH Foundation,” explains Roger Anderson, BUH Foundation board of directors chairperson.
“We have already met a new donor through the program and are very grateful to them for joining us.”
Donations received from ChangeIt, unless specified by the donor, will go to support the purchase of non-capital equipment and education requests for BUH and Battlefords Region Home Care. Every year BUH Foundation sets their commitment budget for these items, to enrich the services offered through BUH and BRHC.
According to a press release, BUH Foundation doesn’t simply want the basics. They want enriched care for family, friends, and neighbours of the Battlefords. This year the commitment was a total of $90,000.00 for non-capital and education combined. This is above any other special events or capital purchases made during the year.
