Building permit numbers are down in North Battleford to start 2013.
The January numbers, compiled by Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk and presented at Monday night's council meeting, saw a sharp drop in value. Four building permits were issued for $754,000 compared to five for $5,960,000 for the same period in 2012.
Accounting for much of the decline was a big drop in the category of "new industrial" permits. Two had been issued for $5,822,000 in January 2012, but a big "nil" was recorded in the same category in January 2013.
Instead, the latest January numbers saw one institutional alteration permit issued for $689,000 (compared to nil in Jan. 2012), one commercial alteration for $30,000, one garage/carport for $15,000 and one residential alteration for $20,000.
No building permits were issued in other categories, with a "nil" reported in the new dwellings category so far in 2013.
