North Battleford building permits continue to outpace 2013 numbers so far this year.

Numbers for April and May have been released and both months have seen increases, bringing the total numbers through May to 35 permits issued for $16,982,700, compared to 30 issued for $8,321,800 for the same period in 2013.

For April 2014, there were seven permits issued for $1,167,000 compared to six issued for $933,000 the same month in 2013. Those totals included four new dwelling permits issued for $1,085,000.

May 2014 numbers saw 12 permits issued for $1,154,000, comparing favourably to 11 permits for $836,200 for the same month in 2013.

Those numbers so far do not include the building permit for the new Betty Bubbles car wash in the north end. That building plan was announced early in June and the value of that project is $1.6 million, which should be a further boost to the overall permit numbers.

Councillors received more good building news at Monday's council meeting. A four-storey condominium with 28 units is to be built at 2452 Killdeer Drive. The size is 11,752 square feet.

Normandale Holdings Ltd. owns the property, located in an R-4 residential zone. The value of that project is estimated at $5 million.
