Honeywood Heritage Nursery hosted the Saskatchewan section of the vintage motorcycle club and British Car Club organizations Aug. 18.

The Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group (CVMG) is a cross-country motorcycle organization with 23 active sections across the country. In Saskatchewan, there are now two sections as of 2012: the original Saskatchewan section with 60 members and the newly established South Saskatchewan with 30 members.

"The motorcycle club is a multi-faceted club that consists of members with varying interests," explained Orv Olm, spokesperson for the Saskatchewan section, adding that some members' interests focus on riding old and/or new motorcycles, restoring motorcycles, the history and repairing of old motorcycles and many view the organization as a social aspect.

The organization offers organized rides throughout the summer and winter months and involves garage tours, meetings, history tours, shows and vintage trials. Olm explains a momentous event is the annual provincial rally, the Biggar Classic at the beginning of August. Members from the sister groups across western Canada converge to enjoy some fellowship.

The CVMG is a non-profit incorporated group operated entirely by volunteer members. More information about CVMG can be obtained by visiting www.cvmg.camp7.org.

There is a lot of nostalgia within the organization and Olm admits some of the mature riders enjoy the adventure of searching and locating and even restoring a motorcycle from their youth to rideable condition.

"We think fondly of the early days," says Olm, describing the members as of eclectic nature consisting of professionals from all walks of life.

Members of the Saskatchewan British Car Club brought in a selection of vehicles such as a Jaguar Etype, Triumph TR6 and a couple MGBs to name a few.

The British Car Club typically co-ordinates an annual visit to Honeywood Nursery with the nursery's Touch of Autumn event in September. It was a special treat to have them visit in August as well.

The members and visitors had an opportunity to enjoy a barbecue lunch and some fellowship before departing to their next destination.
