Crime: North Battleford still in second place

North Battleford is in second place in Canada's crime severity index.

THE BATTLEFORDS - North Battleford's crime severity index went down by 5.14 per cent from 2019 to 2020. But it has remained in second place nationally for communities over 10,000 population.

North Battleford's violent crime severity numbers are also down, with a decrease of 4.78 per cent. The CSI is showing the first decrease since the 2014 edition.

The VCSI has seen more frequent decreases than the CSI, with the last one being in 2018. However, 2019 saw a 50.22 increase.

The top 10 on the CSI list for Canada are: Thompson, Man.; North Battleford; Wetaskiwin, Alta.; Yellowknife, NWT; Williams Lake, B.C.; Quesnel, B.C.; Prince Albert; Portage la Prairie, Man.; Rocky Mountain House, Alta., and; Prince George, B.C.
