Cumberland House RCMP looking for man accused of arson, assault

CUMBERLAND HOUSE — Cumberland House RCMP are actively trying to locate Lawrence McGillivary, 29, who is wanted on charges including arson and assault.

On July 25, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Cumberland House RCMP received a report of a male uttering threats at a residence on Cumberland House Cree Nation.

When officers responded, the residence was on fire. Local fire services extinguished the fire. The interior of the residence was heavily damaged and no injuries were reported.

While investigating this incident, officers received a report of a separate assault that occurred earlier this year.

As a result of investigation, Cumberland House RCMP charged McGillivary of Cumberland House Cree Nation with:

  • arson;
  • utter threats;
  • assault causing bodily harm – choking, strangling or suffocating.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Cumberland House RCMP are actively trying to locate him.

Lawrence McGillivary is described as approximately five foot 10 and 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
