Elrose man killed on Highway 15

A 61-year-old male from Elrose was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SOVEREIGN — An Elrose man has been killed in a collision near Sovereign.

On Jan. 16, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Rosetown RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 15, approximately 10 kilometres west of Sovereign.

Initial investigation has determined that a westbound pickup truck and an eastbound pickup truck collided. The driver of westbound truck, a 61-year-old male from Elros, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There were two people in the eastbound truck. The adult male driver was transported to hospital by STARS with what are described as serious injuries. The adult female passenger was transported to hospital with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP do not have an update on their conditions.

Highway 15 was closed during initial investigation but has since reopened.

Rosetown RCMP and a Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
