ETHELTON— Moving from a freshly put out brush fire in the RM of Star City, the Melfort Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Hi-Lite Custom Feed Lot, five kilometres south of Ethelton.
When crews arrived on May 7, at 7:09 p.m., they found that one 35x40 foot building was burnt to the ground, and a Quonset as well as livestock corrals were on fire.
As there was no confirmed water source at the site, the crews called for mutual aid from St. Brieux Fire Department to respond with their water tender truck.
The St. Brieux crews remained until the Melfort Fire Department tender 221 truck was able to arrive on scene, travelling from the fire in the RM of Star City.
The 35x40 structure was a complete loss and structural damage was done to the Quonset.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
