Extensive playground damage; one arrest

RCMP have arrested one individual in connection to an suspected incident of a vehicle damaging a school playground near St. Mary School.

Police report that on April 16 at around 2 a.m., Battlefords RCMP were called to the school playground, located on the 1300 block of 110th Street. On arriving they found extensive damage from a vehicle still on scene, heavily damaged, but which had no one in or around it.

According to the news release, evidence indicated the occupants had been injured in the collision. RCMP say they attended the address of the registered owner and identified individuals with non-life threatening injuries.

One arrest was made and the investigation is ongoing. Further arrests and charges are pending.  Police say alcohol was a factor.

Damage is estimated to be several thousand dollars, but an exact figure is not available.
