Confusion surrounds the future of Gamex Bingo in North Battleford.
At their Facebook page, the Battlefords and District Bingo Assoc. Inc. reported that Gamex Bingo was closed Friday, May 23 “until further notice.”
“So after the BDBA meeting today we have decided we will remain closed and will have an answer before Thursday May 30th on whether Gamex bingo will be opened again or not,” they stated on Facebook on May 23.
The closure has prompted plenty of speculation on social media as to the reasons behind it, but there is no confirmation yet on why the bingo hall has shut down.
The same Facebook page had previously posted a calendar of events for the month of May, with bingos scheduled for Gamex on every date that month.
A craft and garage sale had also been scheduled for June 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is unclear whether that is still a go.
A query to the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority confirmed the decision to close was the bingo association’s decision – not as a result of any action or sanction taken by SLGA.
